ABOUT

My name is Kirsten McCormick Giarra. I was born and raised in New Jersey, I graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Society. I currently split my year between the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas and Bergen County, New Jersey to service families in both areas.

Growing up I always had a love for children. My mother was a nanny herself, and I was always eager to help when I was not in school. By the time I was 12, my mother was dropping me off at other families' houses to babysit. I headed off to college with the dream of becoming a family attorney. However, my dream changed after working in a couple of law firms and realizing I wanted to do more hands-on work with children.

In 2016, I moved to Dallas, Texas to become a Newborn Care Specialist. While in Dallas, I worked with a sleep trainer for a family with triplets. From this job, I found my passion. I found satisfaction in providing parents with the gift of sleep. I started researching how to sleep coach/train and began learning on my own. I started using my own research with each family I worked for. Within weeks, I had little ones who woke up 2+ times a night sleeping 8-12 hours through the night and peacefully napping during the day. After a couple of years of perfecting my methods, I wanted to expand my knowledge and began looking into training programs for older children.

In August 2018, I became trained and certified as a Gentle Sleep Coach through the most extensive and professional sleep certification program available. The program involves over 80 hours of training with a faculty panel that includes two medical doctors, a psychologist, an attorney, a lactation counselor, postpartum doulas, and a family therapist. Each coach must pass an exam and participate in case supervision with Kim West, LCSW-C (a.k.a. “The Sleep Lady”), who has been helping tired parents for over 17 years. Clinical supervision and ongoing advanced training are required to maintain certification as a Gentle Sleep Coach.

I am dedicated to helping you and your family get the rest you need. I will develop a specific plan that best suits your parenting style so we can solve your child’s sleep problems together. I look forward to assisting you and transforming your sleepless nights into a well-rested life.
